Welcome to my visual communications home page. I am Jack Glascock and an associate professor in the School of Communication at Illinois State University. I teach in the area of visual journalism (photography, print and online design, and multimedia).

Most recently my research has focused on verbal as well as physical aggression in the media. Recent projects include a content analysis and effects of TV police dramas.

I received a doctorate in Mass Media from Michigan State University in 1996. I also have a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. My undergraduate degree is a BBA in economics from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.

While a graduate student at Michigan State I was awarded a Fullbright Scholarship to study and do research in Canada. Although just across the northern border, Canada was an enlightening experience in a number of ways with universal health care, a ban on handguns and legislation outlawing hate speech -- and of course the use of the word "eh" after almost every sentence :)
